What's a session like?

What to expect at your session:
Your photo session is unique to you. I encourage you to bring several outfit choices for me to choose from. I usually prefer solid fabric choices, something light colored, and something dark colored. Always bring your favorite outfits as well, you never know what I might pick that will photograph well. Fun hats, blankets, and costumes are more than welcome to make your photo session personal. Most of the time children are photographed barefoot, and newborns are photographed nude. If there is more than one person to be photographed, clothes should coordinate in color and style.

Your session will last anywhere from 30 min. - 2 1/2 hrs. Please plan accordingly. I purposely leave a lot of time open, so your child has time to get comfortable in their new surroundings, and there will be plenty of opportunities to take a play break or have a snack. Your child should be well rested and fed before your session. Most children will perform their best in the mornings. If your child is deciding to be uncooperative, you may choose to reschedule within the first 30 minutes of your session.

A favorite toy or memorabilia item is also welcome. Sometimes bringing Grandma or a friendly helper makes it easier for you and your child. "Mommy & Me" and "Grandparents & Me" are also great captures to treasure with your little ones.

For adults and families:
Clothes should color coordinate. Medium or dark colored plain (no bold patterns) fabric is best. Long sleeves are preferable and they are slimming. Make-up and hair should be styled as usual. If you wear glasses, borrow some frames without lenses to avoid glare.

How do I see my pictures?
You will make a viewing and ordering appointment approximately 2-3 weeks from your session date. You will be presented with 20-30 first edition previews. All orders are to be placed at this time.

My baby scratched her face yesterday, should I reschedule?
Not to worry. Blemishes and scratches or noticeable temporary imperfections will be retouched from your final print order at no additional charge. Swollen lumps or skin discoloration like a black eye should be rescheduled.

Can I order a picture in black & white instead?
Sure! All images can be converted to color, black & white, or sepia at no additional charge. I have made my professional opinion on how the image is to look its best in your first edition previews, but you may feel free to order as you'd like.

How do I place an order?
All orders are placed at your viewing and ordering appointment. For out of state family members, an online gallery and ordering may be requested, restrictions apply. All orders must be paid in full at the time of order.

How long does it take to get my order?
Your order typically takes about three-six weeks. Large items, artwork or collage designs, and framing or specialty items may take longer. Portraits are processed by a professional portrait lab on archival professional paper. You will be notified when your order is ready for pick up.

Your work is so awesome! Can you take all my kids pictures?
I love to visit with little ones and capture their personalities. It is so much fun to see your kids at different ages and milestones. I would definitely like to keep photographing your family as they grow for years to come.
